    Forum Description

The two biggest time-saving pieces of equipment we have in our shop are the metering valve attachment for the sandblast cabinet and the Apera brand magnetic stirrers (see links below).

    Metering Valve

The metering valve increases the efficiency of any sandblast cabinet with a media hopper. The installation takes less than an hour with some basic tools. The metering valve allows you to sandblast at lower pressures, which means your compressor doesn't have to run as much and saves wear and tear on your cabinet parts and media. The longer your equipment lasts, the more money you'll save.

Cerakote needs to be shaken for 10 minutes prior to being measured out for your project, in order to incorporate the coating and the solvent. The magnetic stirrers allow you to drop a magnetic “pill” into the bottle that stays in there for the life of the bottle. That pill attracts to the spinning magnet in the stirrer base and circulates the Cerakote once the stirrer is turned on. This magent stirrer mixes the coating and solvent together without the need for shaking.

At the beginning of our day, we grab the colors we need, plop them on those stirrers, and move on. When we're ready for the Cerakote, it is ready for us. The magnetic stirrers save us a minimum of one manhour per day. Once the Cerakote bottle is empty, we wash the little magnet with acetone and it's ready to go into a new bottle.
