    Forum Description

The number one problem we've found with almost every single applicator that has come through our training course? Spraying too thin. When spraying your basecoat, you need to spray so that you have a base of 1-2 mils.

By sandblasting your project, you are creating a specific etch pattern in which the Cerakote product is designed to adhere. If your basecoat is too shallow, the Cerakote will not adhere properly. If you're too aggressive, the finished product will look and feel rough.

If you are using stencils or doing multiple colors, be sure that you do not fully bake that basecoat. Subsequent coats of Cerakote will not stick to fully cured Cerakote.

Check out our tips about tacking to avoid getting your basecoat too hard.
